This loop is about 154 km and a great ride through varied trails including mixed forestry and Ontario's wetlands. Depending on your preference this loop could take a few hours or all day!
After parking ( where? ) in McKellar you would head out onto McKellar Lake , keep left and follow DASR trail 804 off the lake. Follow the signs and cross Hwy 124 and keep on going until you come to Manitouwabing Lake.
Manitouwabing is a fair size lake with many bays and a craggy shoreline. It is advisable to follow the stake line, as it is easy to get turned around on this lake. Once off the lake you will have to follow the road for a short stretch until you get back on the trail.
DASR 804 is club trail going through some mixed forest, some high ground and a few wetland areas. There is potential to see wildlife at any point on the trail.
At C101 you will turn right and head south the C103D (The Sequin). C101 connects C104D to The Sequin and is a scenic ride with many hills and some logging roads ( add something for this trail maybe?)
At the junction of the Sequin and C101, you may want to take a break and reflect on the tarils you have just travelled. This spot is a favourite rest stop for many sledders.
Turning left off C101 onto the Sequin you will travel along a rail bed that was once Booth Railway built to move logs and other goods to the Ottawa Valley and markets in Europe and elsewhere. The railway was a victim of the Depression and now is a favourite four season trail and part of the Park to Park trail system and part of the Trans Canada Trail.
Following the Sequin for about 21 km you will pass Trail 711 and shortly after come to Trail 704. If you need fuel or want to get a coffee or a bite to eat, Sprucedale is a little further down the taril where you can get fuel and take a break at the McManniss’ Lunch room or at the Sprucedale Hotel.
After your break head back down the taril to Trail 704 and follow this until you meet up with Trail 711 again. Turn right or north on Trail 711. Trail 711 is a trail that is mostly hardwood trees with a few wetlands and evergreen stands. A scenic trail through the hardwood trees that never gets old!
Coming to the junction of 711 and 712 you will turn right and head out onto Lake Cecebe. It is best to stay on the stake line as wind around a few islands on your way to the other side.
Once off the lake you can get gas a the gas station at Port Carmen across the road from the marina.
Crossing Hwy 520 you will travel over some farm fields and head into a bush and wetland area and bit of road on your way to C104D.
On C104D you will get to the Village of Magnetawan, although there is no gas station in Town a new restaurant and grocery just opened in June 2013 located right at the four corners in the Village.
Follow the signs through town and once out of the village you will turn right onto a summer road that will bring you to Ahmic Lake. It can be a fast run across the almost 16 km of lake running or leisurely ride taking in the sites and potential to see a bald eagle, wolf or deer on the lake.
Once across the lake you will be in Ahmic Harbour where you can gas up and have coffee at Guitar Pickers Corners or go across the street to the Harbour Tavern for bite and coffee.
On you way again a shirt ride will bring you to Dunchurch where can get food or fuel at the Duck Rock Resort. Premium gas is available at Duck Rock.
You can either take C104D to DASR 805 or take CSC Trail 602 across Whitestone Lake. Both trails are good however there is a bit of road running on C104D.
At the junction of C104D, 805 and 602 you will head south on DASR 805 for about 21 km crossing Shawanaga Lake and Lorimer Lake on your back to McKellar Lake, McKellar and you vehicle.

When planning your ride, always check for current Trail Status Reports.
In addition to trail status, your decision to enter any available OFSC trail must be based on other determining factors at the time of your ride, including weather conditions, visibility, natural hazards, storm or other damage and the conditions of both you and your sled.
